Shock the pool weekly during the swimming season, after heavy rain, or after a busy pool party. Always shock at dusk, UV from sunlight burns off chlorine before it can work.
Aim for pH 7.2 – 7.6. Below 7.0 the water becomes acidic and corrodes equipment; above 7.8 chlorine effectiveness drops sharply and you’ll get cloudy water and scale.
